In the past, I was a very different person. I never felt very motivated to do things. Of course, I always had dreams, big dreams, but they somehow always seemed so far away in the future. I wasn’t really pursuing them. I was only living in the moment, mainly for today or for tomorrow. I must admit, I was also a procrastinator. At the time, I didn’t realise, that my thoughts and emotions create my reality. That is the reason why I was attracting many things into my life, which I didn’t want to see. It was because of the resistance I was feeling towards those things.

When I finally started having a vision of how I wanted my life to go, instead of fearing the future and focusing on the negative, things began to change. I started setting goals and creating deadlines for these goals. That gave me a clear vision where I was heading. Having this mindset transformed my life in so many wonderful ways.

So, how do you begin to feel motivated? Here are a few easy ways to get you started:

1. Start your day right

When you arise in the morning, make a decision to have a good day. At first, it may feel like a lie, especially if you have been mainly focusing on the negative, but after a while you will notice small changes that will help you align with this new reality.

2. Use positive affirmations

Throughout the day, keep positive mindset by repeating positive statements about your life. If you are mostly feeling negative, try to think the exact opposite. So, for example: If you always say to yourself, you are not good enough, start telling yourself, that you are more than good enough. Your affirmations need to be positive and in present tense.

3. Take deep breaths

Pause for a moment and notice your breathing. Is it shallow, does it feel stressed or are your breaths short? Don’t judge yourself, just notice. Then, take a long, deep breath and breathe out. Repeat this at least three times. Do this intentionally several times a day, especially when you are feeling under pressure. Every time I breathe slowly and deeply, I feel less stressed and it also gives me clarity and helps me to feel much more calm and peaceful.

4. Stay disciplined

Stay disciplined by keeping promises to yourself and others. When you say you are going to do something, always do it. The more you adopt this kind of mindset, the more natural it will get.
